What to Wear
Although you’ll be in a professional grade raft, you’ll definitely get wet on the Arkansas River whitewater so come prepared. We recommend wearing a swimsuit and quick drying shorts; for your feet, sporty sandals, aqua-socks or tennis shoes you don’t mind getting wet. For cooler days, it’s a good idea to bring some extra layers, but be sure to avoid cotton, as it tends to retain water and will keep you cold and wet. We highly recommend that all our guests wear water proof sunscreen on any exposed skin. At our altitude and on water, the sun’s rays are extreme and not to be trifled with.
All of our guests are fitted with Coast Guard approved Type V life jackets that are designed to keep you afloat in the event that you find your self out of the raft. We also require every guest to wear a water safety helmet.
We have modern and comfortable equipment for use including: wetsuits, river-shoes and splash jackets. These items are available to rent at a price of $4/each or $10 for all three items and are recommended.
Be sure to bring something warm and dry to change in to after your trip; although the sun is out and Colorado summers are warm, being wet on shore can make you feel chilly. Workout clothes that wick sweat work great, as does wool base layers. Pretty much anything but cotton.
