About Browns Canyon National Monument

Browns Canyon became a national monument in 2015. It includes part of the Arkansas River, San Isabel National Forest, and Bureau of Land Management land. In addition to outstanding white water rafting, Browns Canyon has nearly 22,000 acres of public land that is open to ranching, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, and camping. Now that Browns Canyon is a National Monument, important wildlife habitat for bighorn sheep, elk, and mule deer is better protected.

We’re proud to show off this beautiful landscape while respecting the wildlife and ensuring that year-round recreation opportunities are available to everyone for years to come.
